Since 1999 Eclectic got connected to sail racing in various steps. First the good old chartered bare boat racing in the Caribbean regatta ’s like the Heineken St. Maarten Regatta. It created the appetite for our own yacht to race NW European waters and suppoet the brand.
The Dehler 39 Eclectic was acquired to show her charms in the Dutch regatta scene and did well. Great fun, great racing and a strong brand recognition started to build. In 2007 the new Dehler 44 SQ was launched in on Barcelona Boat show to improve sailing capabilities and stretch her legs into greater waters. Numerous regatta’s in Holland, Belgium, The UK, France were on the list. The 2009 Fastnet race was a great offshore race for the team and confirmed the boat’s speed and quality. Racing the 2013 Gotlant Runt was possibly the best experience ever with a fabulous delivery trip up and down to Stockholm. Sailing a yacht under spinaker in the Baltic in midsummernight conditions is definitely unforgettable.
Than we moved to supporting the team Sailing Holland’s campaign with a personal sponsorship for Gerd-Jan Poortman, racing the VO65 Brunel around the globe to secure a 2nd overall win. A fantastic result in a grueling race.
Being closely connected with the team I got the chance to join the Pro Am team to compete with the VO65 in the ARC race across the Atlantic end of 2015. A great experience and unbeatable result so far: Overall winner, class winner, new race Record. Truly one from the Top of the Bucketlist….(movie)
Now again new challenges arise. The old passion of sailing catamarans revived a young Nacra 17 was bought from an Olympic campaign and rebranded into a new design Eclectic Catamaran.
